The Honeydo List #6

honeydo In the comments section of the last Honeydo list post, Marla accused me of slacking off, of getting less done as weeks go by. In a desperate attempt to prove her wrong (and I am a stat’s freak) I put some stats together.

I don’t know if they mean anything at all but before we get to this weeks list let me show them to you:

Percentage of items removed from the list.

  • Week 1: 3/4(75%)
  • Week 2: 5/12(42%)
  • Week 3: 4/8 (50%)
  • Week 4: 4/10 (40%)
  • Week 5: 1/6 (17%)
  • Week 6: 3/9 (33%)

So yes there has been a decline in productivity, but not if you look at the time it took to do the individual tasks.

Approximate time spent on tasks

  • Week 1: 1.5 hours
  • Week 2: 4 hours (the bed was the big one)
  • Week 3: 30 mins
  • Week 4: 2 hours
  • Week 5: 4 hours
  • Week 6: 3.5 hours

Now my time estimates might be a bit off but I think that is a fair reflection of the effort.

Of the items removed from the list this week what percentage of them were added this week(I’m not sure what this indicates, but as I said I like stats)

  • Week 1: 100%
  • Week 2: 80%
  • Week 3: 75%
  • Week 4: 50%
  • Week 5: nothing added
  • Week 6: 67%

Of the items removed from the list in a particular week what percentage of them were added in a week prior to this one.

  • Week 1: 0% (no prior weeks)
  • Week 2: 20%
  • Week 3: 75%
  • Week 4: 40%
  • Week 5: 100%
  • Week 6: 33%

Comparison of items added in a week with the number removed in that same week

  • Week 1: 4 added 3 removed (removed 75% of what was added)
  • Week 2: 10 added 5 removed (removed 50%)
  • Week 3: 4 added 4 removed (removed 100%
  • Week 4: 6 added 5 removed (removed 83%
  • Week 5: 0 added 1 removed (Undefined)
  • Week 6: 3 added 3 removed (removed 100%)

On average things that have been removed from the list have stayed on the list 0.41 weeks before.

On average the things that are still on the list have been there for 2.29 weeks.

So it looks like the easy stuff gets done first and the hard stuff stays for awhile before getting tackled.

Anyway  :)

Here is the current list, including the things removed in this last week.

  • Weather proof front door. I thought I’d finish this on Tuesday evening, but here is still a 1.5cm gap under the door, even after I installed the weather flap :(
  • Varnish back door frame.
  • Check plug point for obvious problems.
  • Replace old style light switch.
  • Paint a wall in CJ’s bedroom.
  • Glue Broken chair.
  • Fix step.
  • Reinstall wireless network.

Do you do stats? Or are you still hoping your wife never reads/had never read, this column?

I think it is too late. My wife already reads the honeydew list. You have brought pain and suffering to all men in this world. Why Ron? Why?

Gosh Ron, those stats gave me a headache, I had to gloss over them, they become like white noise. But I do admire your commitment to the tasks. Have a great day.
