My Reasons
I have not posted here in a while. Why, you ask…
Priorities! Over the past 2 months I have had to decide many times to do one thing over another. Ok a lot of the time there is no real choice, its just that some things get done and some other things don’t get done.
Andy Stanley (@AndyStanley on twitter) once said that there is always too much to do and not enough time to do it all, so you have to choose who you are going to cheat. Cause you are going to cheat someone or something so choose wisely.
Over the past few weeks I have decided that whoever I cheat it will NOT be Marla, CJ or Alicia. I am writing this now (at 21:24 which is way past my current bed time), because to write it earlier would have meant cheating one (or all) of those I choose not to.
These days my time is not really my own. Any time I do have for myself is time I should be sleeping (like now).
The mornings are a mad rush. The bulk of the day is spent at work. I’d rather spend the day with my girls, but then we do need a place to stay and food to eat. Evenings look like this:
- 17:15 Leave the office
- 17:40 Arrive home. I have to give Gareth a lift home as well. I spend the next 15 mins catching up on the girls’ days.
- 18:00 Crazy hour begins. Marla feeds Alicia while CJ plays and I run the baths.
- 18:10 I usually bath Alicia. during this time Marla either baths or feeds CJ and get’s a bottle ready for Alicia for after her bath.
- 18:35 (Yes it takes a while to do the bath) Feed Alicia the bottle. CJ is either bathing or being fed (which ever didn’t happen during Alicia’s bath) by Marla at this point.
- 19:00 Still busy with the bottle. There is a lot of burping to do at this stage. Marla is cooking our supper and will start moving Cj to bed at about 19:20
- 19:20 CJ goes to bed with Marla reading her a story. I’m busy with Alicia trying to get her to go to sleep.
- 19:30 On a good night Alicia is asleep by now and I finish the supper while Marla finishes the story. On a bad night Alicia is still awake and Marla and I end up eating in shifts while the other burps/rocks Alicia.
- 19:40 On a good night Marla and I eat supper together and watch some TV we have taped from earlier in the week (we NEVER see a TV show on the day it was broadcast, DVR to the rescue).
- 20:30 Prepare for bed.
- 21:00 go to bead read for a bit and sleep.
Tonight was a bad night it is 22:00 now and I had to burp Alicia twice while writing this. I am exhausted and am going to bed now.
