The stick knot

You’ve heard of a “slip knot” right? Well what about a “stick knot”? One that does not slip but rather sticks?

I’ve had to run these tests at work (I write software for a living) that can sometimes take a few mins to complete. I also have a large blob of prestik on my desk. Add a bit of time, a blob of prestik and an ex-scout and you get…

The stick-knot.

It started like this:

Prestik loop flat

And then migrated to one of these:

Prestik Reef flat

And finally one of these:

Prestik sheep flat

The tricky part is getting the pieces of prestik into place without letting them touch (the stuff should be called touch-stick).

Any hoo, it was fun. I tried a number of other knots, but they turned out to be way to difficult to put together without making a mess. It’s a bit like playing that loop over a bended wire connected to a buzzer game, but way more frustrating.

And if you think it was just a waste of time check this out. It will either confirm the waste of time thing or, if you are like me, make you go “oooooo”.

You try it. Make something with prestik and post a link to your wonderful creation below.

Dude each of those knots took about 3 mins to make. Max. In fact it took longer to type out the blog post than “tie” all three knots.
