My wife is psychic
Seriously, Marla can read my mind.
Most people would think this is a good thing, and in the ideal world it would be, because I would never have to ask her for anything, she would know what I need before I know I need it. Life would be great.
The problem is that she does not realise she can read my mind. So a typical scenario plays out like this:
- I’ll be doing whatever it is I was doing.
- I would get up to do something (whatever it is).
- Marla says from across the room/house “can you please (insert here whatever it is I was about to do)”
Do you know how frustrating it is?
I know it takes a lot for Marla to ask for help.
I know she would far rather that I saw the same needs that she saw.
I know that she loves it when I take the initiative and do something without being asked.
Do you see the problem?
I can never surprise her.
I could claim that it is what I was about to do anyway. But then she could think I was just saying that.
So when it happens now. I give her the look that she knows to interpret as “If you had given me 5 seconds to do what I was about to do…”
Hmm maybe it is me that is reading her mind and not the other way around.
